New Gigabyte Q2005 netbook

Gigabyte have launched the latest in their ever growing line of netbooks powered by the Intel dual core processors, this is definitely something that is capable of delivering high performance even for a netbook.

So what does the Gigabyte Q2005 have to offer! The usual 10.1 inch LED back light display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, running on the Genuine Windows 7 Starter operating system, it is powered by the Intel Atom Dual Core 1.50 GHz Processor N550, Chipset Mobile Intel NM10 Express Chipsets and graphics are provided by the Intel GMA 3150 graphics card.

The System Memory can either be a 1GB or the 2GB DDRIII, 1 slot (Max 2GB) Hard Disk Drive with a choice of 250gb, 320gb or the maximum 500 GB, there is also a 2.5″ (9.5mm) SATA HDD 5400rpm.

Gigabyte have included a whole host of ports, like the USB (2.0) x 3, D Sub, RJ45, Mic in, Earphone out, eight in one card reader that includes; (SD/Mini SD/SDHC/MMC/RS MMC/MS/MS Pro/MS Dou), DC-in Jack, Audio 1.5 Watt Speakers x 2, and Internal Mic-in.

Communications come in the shape of the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Base-T, an 802.11b/g/n Wireless, the Bluetooth V3.0 + HS (Optional), WWAN (3.5G): N/A and the all important built in 0.3 Mega Pixel Webcam.

There is a choice of operating systems from the Genuine Windows 7 Starter or the Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium. The buyer also gets a choice of battery, choosing either the Li-ion 3-cell or the Li-ion 6-cell variety.

When it comes to size and weight the Gigabyte Q2005 measures up as follows, the dimensions are 266 mm (W) x 185 mm (D) x 19.7 mm to 27.1 mm (H), with the weight being 1.05 Kg (w/ 3 cell battery) or 1.2 kg (w/ 6 cell battery) and as a security measure the laptop has a Kensington Lock fitted.

The conclusions are that this netbook could use a boost in the resolution department; it would seem that 1366 x 768 would be more in tune with the rest of market. This issue would appear to be the main problem, as the rest of specs and options are looking on a par with other netbooks in the same sector of the market.
